Lelde Muehlenbachs

Medium: Acrylic and Oil

Long familiar to the Edmonton art scene, Lelde has worked as a curator at the former Edmonton Art Gallery, sessional in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta and she has written extensively on art for Canadian art magazines and the Edmonton Journal.
Encountering the varied Alberta landscape after moving from the urban U.S., left a heady impact. Her landscape-based imagery starts with a concrete initial prompt but soon wanders to realms where anything is possible, mood, gesture, colour play, atmospheric variations. As the familiar recedes, the viewer is invited to join the visual journey of possibily and surprise.
Lelde has an undergraduate degree in Studio Art from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and a M.A. in 19th and 20thc Art History from The University of Chicago.
